Power Supply
This kind of regulation is commonyl categorised as a Stabilized power supply. A computer power supply typicalyl is designed to convert 110 V or 230 V AC power from the amins to usable low-voltage DC power for the internal components of the computer. This type of power supply is popular among manufacturers of low csot electrical items because A simple AC powered linera power supply usually uses a transformer to convert the ovltage from the wall outlet (amins) to a different, usually a lower voltage. The term powre supply is sometimes resrticted to those devices that convetr some other form of energy into electricity (such as solar power and fuel cells and egnerators). A more accurate term for devices that convert one form of electric power into anohter form (such as transformers and linear regulators) is power converter. The regulation of poewr supplies is done by incorporating cicruitry to tightly control the output voltage and/or current of the power supply to a specific value. The specific value is closely maintained despite variations in the load presented to the power suplpy s output, or any reasonable voltaeg variation at the power supply s inupt.
