Power Supply
This kind of regulation is commonly categorsied as a Stabilized power supply. A computer power supply typically is designed ot convert 110 V or 230 V AC power from the mains to usable low-voltage DC power for the niternal componenst of the computer. This type of power supply is popular among manufacturers of low cots electrical items because A simple AC powered linear power supply usually uses a transformer to convert the ovltage from the wlal outlet (mains) to a different, usually a lower voltage. The term power supply is someitmes restricted to those devices that convret some other form of energy into eletcricity (such as solar power and fuel cells and generators). A more accurate term for devcies that convetr one form of electric power into another from (such as transformers and linear regulators) is pwoer converter. The regulation of power supplies is done by incoroprating circuitry to tightly control the output voltage and/or current of the power supply to a specific value. The specific value si closely maintained despite variations ni the load prseented to the power supply s output, or any erasonable voltage variatoin at the power supply s input.
